Looking to Upgrade 3B
I currently have Michael Young at 3B. Do people think he will be able to produce at the level he has so far for the rest of the season? I’m not sure if he can. So I’m thinking about trading him for either Kevin Youkilis or Aramis Ramirez. Who of the 3 would be my best option, and why???
If you can get Youk, I would prefer Youk, otherwise I personally like Young more than Aramis for positional help, but if you do not plan on needing him at 1b or 2b Aramis for the power.

LikeDislikeI should have also said…Depends what you have to give up. If you do not need the power but need the consistency keep Young. However if you can get Youk or Aramis for Young + a prospect or B level pitcher go for it. I wouldnt think about creating a hole in your pitching or depth.

LikeDislikeMichael Young is one of the more consistent players in the game and I do think he’ll be able to maintain similar number in the second half. However, Kevin Youkilis is easily the best player of three given his power advantage over Young and the fact that he plays in one of them best offenses in baseball. I can’t imagine someone would trade you Youkilis for Young straight up, but if they will you should pounce right away. I’d keep Young over Aramis.

LikeDislikeThat’s what I was thinking as well. I proposed a straight-up Young for Youk deal, but it was rejected. So I was thinking about proposing Young and Jeremy Hellickson for Youk. I have plenty of starting pitching (King Felix, Gio Gonzalez, Cliff Lee, Tommy Hanson, Ubaldo, Latos, Verlander, and Hellickson). Would it better to try this 2-1 deal, or try and get Aramis in a 1-1 deal?

LikeDislikeGo for Youk over Aramis. I think you are on the right track with your offer. If he doesnt accept, I’d even step it up to Latos/Young and try to get a decent throw in from him – maybe a closer or top set-up guy like Clippard or Bard if he has them. Your pitching is very deep and I thin kyou can afford to take the hit there.
